QUICK UPDATE: On our last visit Fiesta Garcia now are mainly selling their own beers under the brewery name Garcia Brew. They were in pretty modern styles, so if you’re heading here to drink Bayern Meister you might be disappointed. Not sure if they still have it. The food is still lovely by the way….

Garapago Racing Kaisei Handmade Beer
The fantastically named Garapago Racing Kaisei Handmade Beer is a brewery west out of Tokyo on the Odakyu line, almost in Odawara. Although my picture doesn’t show it, it’s in a really nice location with mountains on two sides in the not too far distance. Given that it’s in an area where it seems like…
Beer Boy Kichijoji (NOW CLOSED)
THIS PLACE IS NOW CLOSED I have been meaning to try this place for a while as it seemed like an interesting twist on the usual Craft Beer Market concept. The twist is that there are less taps and it’s more like an Izakaya than a CBM. Going to a concert in Kichijoji gave me…
Loose ends/various places Part 4
This is part four of what will be constantly updated posts with brief descriptions of places that possibly deserve to be on here but which I have either no time or inclination to visit. Part one is here, part two here, three is here, five is here or you can view all of them by…
Tokyo Aleworks Taproom
Quick update: They now have accommodation above the bar. Something like a hotel. And there’s a plan to get beer connected up to your room so soon you will be able to drink yourself to sleep perhaps without having to leave your bed! Couldn’t find any info about it on their website, but was told…
Bacca Brewing
Our second and final stop in Matsumoto was another brewery, Bacca Brewing. The Matsumoto Brewery Taproom was small but this one was even smaller, being located in a former barbershop. There are a few other beer places in town that I hope to check out if Matsumoto stay in J1 next year or we get…
Matsumoto Brewery Taproom
A new team in J1 means a new away fixture for me and therefore an opportunity to visit some new bars in a new town. I guess I’m pushing things a bit with this post and the next one, as it takes quite a while to get to Matsumoto from Tokyo. However, given that these…
Loose ends/various places Part 3
This is part three of what will be constantly updated posts with brief descriptions of places that possibly deserve to be on here but which I have either no time or inclination to visit. Part one is here, part two here, part four is here and part five is here, or you can view all…
The Slop Shop
Let me start this post with an apology. Sorry this post isn’t very good. Firstly, the photo isn’t a good one but that’s not entirely my fault. There was some construction going on when I visited. Best look out for those distinctive doors to find this place. Secondly, I probably should have made some better…
Coaster Craft Beer & Kitchen
Today a quick post on a bar that seemed to appear without me realising. It’s strange, as I walk along this road quite a lot but I guess that I probably haven’t recently, and perhaps a recent break in boozing has compounded that. But here it is anyway, a new beer bar in Shimokita, a…
