Carbon Brews is a Hong Kong Brewery and this is their Tokyo taproom / bar. All the beers are brewed in Hong Kong and shipped over. The owner of Carbon Brews actually lives in Tokyo.
The bar doesn’t honestly look very impressive from the outside but once you go in it’s a cool, modern place with flashy beer taps.
There are twelve taps, all of their own beers. All the main beers styles were represented. Prices were slightly lower than most bars these days. A glass (not sure how big) was between ¥800 and ¥850. Pints ranged from ¥1200 to ¥1400. Unusually the Hazy IPA was cheaper than the IPA which is not something I have seen often.
The beers were pretty good. The two I had were both relatively light and would go well with any kind of food.
The food was mostly Hong Kong style bar food. No one would come just for the food but it did give the place a unique selling point and added to the enjoyment of drinking here.
All ordering is done using a smartphone app. I can’t say I like ordering by phone but I guess younger people don’t mind. The bartender was actually very friendly and we chatted for quite a while even though I needed to use my phone to order while talking.
There is a counter and several tables. I didn’t count how many seats they had but I’d say there were at least 25.
There is no charge and there is WiFi and some daytime opening.
Carbon Brews is about 30 seconds walk from Tregion Port and going to both on the same day was a lot of fun.
