Distant Shores Brewing has been around for a few years and their beers can be found in bars all over Tokyo.
Their tasting room in Higashi Murayama is only open on Sundays (although I would advise checking their Instagram first). I said tasting room but it’s basically a few tables and chairs placed outside with some canopies for shelter. I’d say there are about 35 seats. You order your beers inside and then take them outside.
There are 8 taps, all their own beers, and they are only sold in half pints. All are ¥600 yen but you can buy a beer card for ¥3,000 yen which gets you 6 half pints. Very good prices!
There is a wide range of styles. When I went there was a hard seltzer, lager, Belgian saison, pale ale, two IPAs a DIPA, and a NEPIA.
There is no food made on site but there is always a food truck. It was steak today but you can check what truck is going to be there before you go. You are also welcome to bring your own food and there is a convenience store across the road.
Distant shores is about 20 minutes walk from Tokorozawa. Not exactly easy to get to, and as you can find their beers at many bars in Tokyo, you don’t absolutely have to come here to drink them. It is cheaper to drink them here though, and it’s definitely fun to drink outside on a nice day.
