I opened up this website today thinking I would add a new place to the Shiga digest post, only to find that there was no Shiga digest post. Perhaps this makes sense as the only other beer place I’d been in Shiga closed down after my visit. (After my visit, but not due to my visit, I should stress). That place, the Two Rabbits taproom, has now reopened in the same building apparently so I’ll put it on the map, and if you want to know more about it, best check for yourself, maybe here, as I can’t vouch for it till I’ve been there. Pretty sure it will be worth a visit though as the old place was very nice. Anyway, here is a very slim round up of some other options, (actually, just one at this stage), you’ll find in Shiga.
Nagahama
Nagahama Roman Beer

Brewery and distillery not far from Nagahama station and not far from Lake Biwa. If you’ve been to one of the German-style beer halls that are all around Japan, you’ll have an idea what to expect but maybe it veers a little more towards a restaurant kind of feel than some of them do. Great nomihodai where you can drink any of the six beers they have, (four regulars, two seasonals), and also four of their whiskys too. If you’re a beer snob, maybe you might find some of the beers a bit disappointing, but I have to say, I had a really fun time here, which is lucky, because the football game the day before had been absolutely terrible. Lots of food options too in a variety of styles. Fun!
