Tsumugi, or if you want to translate its full name into English, Craft beer shop Tsumugi on the second floor, is a Japanese craft beer bar not far from Minami Kashiwa station. It’s not the easiest to find but if you follow the map and look at the picture above and go up the stairs you should be ok. Here’s what you need to know.
- Not too big but not too small, with seating for around 20-25 at a couple of small tables and some long counters. The usual craft beer bar decor. It was a pleasant place to have a few beers.
- Eight taps of Japanese Craft beer served in a variety of sizes. For reference, the 230ml size ranges from ¥820-¥980 and the 410ml from ¥1510-¥1850. Some local beers available and some other stuff from some quite unusual breweries which was a very welcome thing. There is also a fridge with an interesting selection of cans and bottles. Maybe about 20-30 varieties.
- Some small food items. No cover charge, some daytime opening at the weekend.
This was a fun place to visit and there’s no other craft beer near this station as far as I know. The staff member who was working when we were there was very friendly. It’s not the cheapest place, but as there’s no local competition and it seems to be an independent outlet, that’s to be expected. I don’t go to Kashiwa very often and I go to Minami Kashiwa even less often so it’s unlikely I’ll be a regular customer but if you’re in the area, it’s well worth popping in.
