SCOO has now closed. But the person who ran the branch has now started her own place. It’s called Osacu and is in Hatagaya. It seems to be a bit more food focused and only has three taps, but I’ll try to go there and write it up soon. It’s on the map already in case you are interested.

SCOO is a tiny bar in Harajuku about 9 minutes from the station which opened recently. It is as small as a Golden Gai bar but feels much more sophisticated.
Because it’s so small it is very easy to strike up a conversation with other customers and it is a great place to drink if you are on your own. The outside walls and the interior really fit the trendy Harajuku vibe and the owner is very friendly.
There are seats for about 6 people and 5 taps of beer. I’d say there is a bias towards hazy IPAs but there is usually something more West Coast too.
SCOO seems to be a one woman operation and it has nice food too. As it is a one woman operation the food is relatively simple and more of an accompaniment to the beers.
I really like SCOO and would be a regular if I lived or worked a bit closer.
