Beer Hunting Urawa is a craft beer bar focusing on Japanese craft breweries. The entire bar is no smoking. It’s about a one minute walk from the east exit of Kita Urawa station in Saitama. It’s right above a CoCo Ichiban curry shop. There are 27 seats in total total, nine of them at the bar. They opened in November of 2015.
They have eight taps. Beers come in three sizes, regular (355ml) for ¥900, mini (130ml) for ¥350, and Oktoberfest size beer mugs (1250ml) for ¥2700. Sometimes they’ll have a couple of beers that are little more expensive, +¥100 for regular and +¥50 for mini. They don’t have half sizes. They offer beer flights for ¥1300 from Monday to Thursday until 21:30. The mini size glasses are the same as the ones used for the beer flights and you can choose four beers from the menu for your flight. The food menu includes snacks, pasta, meat dishes and salads. Prices include tax. Payment is cash on delivery. You’ll need to order and pay at the counter unless you’re seated at the bar.
The interior has lots of wood paneling. There’s one spot at the bar with a power outlet. The owner encouraged me to use it as soon as I brought out my phone battery. They’ve had North Island Beer and Noboribetsu Beer tap take over events in the past. During the events the head brewers were on hand serving beer. It can be a little pricey but they get in a nice variety of Japanese craft beers. They update the tap list on their Facebook page regularly.
